We tried Crab Whackers and it's incredibly fun

Whoever plays video games, whether it’s entertainment or professional, has heard of the following titles: Call of Duty, League of Legends, Far Cry, Witcher, FIFA…. These are all franchises and games that we all practically grew up with and we know have been on the market since ancient times. We also know that they are one of the most famous franchises on the market, but they all had to start somewhere.

We had the opportunity to test a new indie game that is still in playtest level of development: Crab Whackers. It is developed by a solo indie developer based in California, where he actively works at sony. This isn’t his first game he’s developed, but it’s the first game he’s shared with the general public.

What is Crab Whackers?

Crab Whackers is a dynamic and fast-paced Tower Defense game in VR. It contains fun experiences, lots of funny interactions, unique weapon objects and enemies to be defeated. It contains various types of enemies that will make you change your attack strategy. From basic enemies who mindlessly charge to tactical enemies operating in the background, Crab Whackers offers a variety of types of enemies so the game doesn’t get boring.

The main goal of the game is to protect your coconuts! Four coconuts hang on a palm tree located on the island. At the beginning of the round, the crabs will take off and you have to defend your palm tree until time runs out. The player will unlock the next level if the previous level ends with at least one remaining coconut, but is encouraged to save them all in order to get gold coconuts that are worth more money.

You can explore the island of things where you can buy a variety of items to help you on your adventures, including various with special powers, upgrades of your palm trees and various utility items, such as a boombox that stops crabs in step and makes them dance, an additional plama that serves as a distraction to crabs.

The player must unlock all the islands and beat Boss to fix the ship and sail away. After that, they will be able to reveal the big plot of the story!

The game is in a very early state of development, but although the idea is very basic at the core, it can provide an infinite amount of fun. The game itself may currently have content in itself, but the developer says that it is doing its best to make Crab Whackers a familiar and dear game to many people in a few years.
