Meta account – an add-on required to log in to Meta devices

Vr users will now need a new Meta account and A Meta Horizon profile. Meta President and CEO Mark Zuckerberg has announced meta account, a new way to log in to your Meta Quest. Until recently, logging in with a Facebook account was a necessary step to be able to access Oculus devices, but those days are over. From now on, meta account comes on the scene.

“As of next month, you will no longer need to have a Facebook account to be able to log in to Quest. Instead of facebook accounts, we are introducing new Meta accounts that you will be able to use on our VR devices. This will give everyone more opportunity to appear in the metaverse.”
Mark Zuckerberg said in a post on his Facebook page.

The meta account provides the same functionality, the ability to manage your Quest hedset and download apps and tools through the Meta Store, but adds flexibility to users by allowing access to your Oculus hedsets without the need for an existing Facebook account. Of course, if you already have an existing Facebook account, you can link it to a new Meta account, but this step is not required. You can even use your Instagram account to log in to the hedset.

Meta further explains that the new Meta account is not a social media profile, but exclusively serves to log into your Oculus devices. The meta account continues to allow users to access their VR devices and manage and view purchased apps and tools. User Oculus profiles are converted into Meta Horizon profiles, which will truly represent their social presence in virtual reality. Furthermore, you will have the option to adjust the privacy of your Meta Horizon profile, which will allow you to view and approve friend requests/companions. While the profile is in private mode, only your friends can see who your friends are and who you follow. Others will still be able to see your profile picture, avatar, username, how many followers and friends you have and can also send you friend and follow-up requests as well as search your username.
