Pico Interactive today announced that it is gearing up to unveil “a new product” this month, promising to elevate your “MR/VR experience to the next level.”
The device is set to make its grand debut on August 20th. According to an image obtained by Antony Vitillo of Skarred Ghost, the reveal will take place at 14:00 China Standard Time (local time). This announcement has generated significant buzz in the VR community, as Pico Interactive has been known for its innovative approaches and high-quality products in the mixed reality (MR) and virtual reality (VR) space.
Additionally, the company hinted at the new headset in a separate X post yesterday, using the hashtags ‘Pico 4’ and ‘Upgrade.’ This teaser strongly suggests that the upcoming product will likely be another XR headset rather than an optional accessory, although the term ‘upgrade’ leaves some room for interpretation.
While the new product is anticipated with great excitement, it’s less likely that it will be the Pico 5 or the rumored Pico 5 Pro Max. These models have been speculated about since late last year. However, following wide-reaching layoffs by Pico’s parent company, ByteDance, there are concerns that the company’s consumer ambitions might have been scaled back, at least outside of Asia and possibly Europe, where it has previously launched other headsets.
Despite these uncertainties, Pico Interactive continues to be a key player in the VR industry, and the upcoming reveal is expected to attract considerable attention from enthusiasts and professionals alike. The August 20th event will likely provide more concrete details and potentially set new benchmarks in the MR/VR experience.
