Roblox, the massively popular online video game platform, is making its way to Meta Quest 2 VR headsets, according to a recent announcement by Meta. The company revealed in an official blog post that an open beta will be available on both Quest 2 and Quest Pro in the “coming weeks” through App Lab, a virtual distribution platform for games and apps not officially approved by Meta. This exciting news means that developers will have the opportunity to experiment and fine-tune their Roblox VR experiences before the game’s official launch on the Meta Quest Store.
Meta aims to ensure that players have an extensive selection of VR content right from the start of the open beta. Selected Roblox experiences will be automatically published, allowing users to enjoy a variety of immersive adventures. Moreover, the Meta Quest version of Roblox will be cross-compatible with existing platforms, enabling players to connect with their friends on Xbox, iOS, Android, and PC, as long as they meet the minimum age requirement of 13 years.
Roblox has already gained popularity on PC VR headsets, offering a range of entertaining VR experiences. Among these experiences, “VR Hands” stands out as a favorite, providing players with a hilarious sandbox adventure where they can interact with others as virtual giants.
The arrival of Roblox on Meta Quest headsets is expected to foster the development of original VR content for the platform. However, it will be intriguing to witness how Roblox VR coexists with Horizon Worlds, a social VR platform developed by Meta that has also captivated a younger audience.
With over 66 million daily users across various devices and platforms, Roblox’s expansion into the virtual reality realm opens up new dimensions of excitement for players. Stay tuned for the open beta release on Meta Quest VR headsets, where thrilling adventures and immersive gameplay await!
