More and more often we can hear new examples of the application of augmented or refined reality, so this time we have an interesting example. This time, refined reality (AR) found application in books. A new form of books – AR books or books with refined reality, using AR technology allows users to interact with digital characters.
Ar books usually come with a mobile app and a connection to the internet is required. With the help of a camera, the mobile application will recognize a photo from a book and upload related digital content. Digital content can be 2D, 3D characters or recordings. Three-dimensional models specifically allow readers to immerse themselves in the content and add an element of gamification to the text. Several such books have already been created in our environment, so we bring some of the examples.
Let’s get to know animals through AR experience
IDK Studio from Bihac published the book Let’s Get to Know Animals through AR Experience, intended for children. With the book and the app, children can meet a dozen different animals, revive each animal, take a photo and share the experience on social networks. The app is available on the App Store and on Google Play. We tried the demo from their site and walked the crocodile on the screen.
Robots – a book with an augmented reality app
Robots, the perfect blend of printed books and digital animation, reveals to young readers an interesting and complex world of robots. Author Clive Gifford introduces young readers to the world of robots by describing the jobs they do, branches of industry in which they play an indispensable role and who programs them and in what way. The concept of augmented reality that enriches the book from Digital Magic won the SPECIAL JURY AWARD OF THE BOLOGNA RAGAZZI DIGITAL AWARDS 2018. AR The Little Prince
The famous Little Prince of Antoine de Saint-Exupéry has been read by all of us and they say that it should be read again and again. One of the most famous books in the world, it has been translated into more than 300 languages and sold more than 200 million copies worldwide. With the support of Samsung and Mozaik, for the first time in Croatia, the Little Prince offers augmented reality. On certain pages there are red roses that lead us to augmented reality, or additional content such as music, games and the world of the little prince in 3D, which no one will be able to resist. Legend – Between Gods
In addition to domestic examples, we previously wrote about Legend – Between Gods. It is an interactive AR book of Greek mythology in which you find yourself in the role of a hero and create your own adventure. In an illustrated book of Greek mythology, through 124 pages you embark on an adventure whose ultimate goal is to become a god yourself. How you achieve this is entirely up to you.
