Mete CEO Mark Zuckerberg has confirmed that their next VR headset will arrive in October this year. Zuckerberg participated in Joe Rogan’s podcast in which he said the device (almost certainly a hedset codenamed “Project Cambria”) would be launched in October, presumably somewhere around Connetz – an event meta organizes every year.

“For our next device, which comes out in October, there are a few big features,” Zuckerberg said, referring to VR at the beginning of the podcast.

He went on to describe new options that will allow eye and face tracking. “The possibility of having some kind of eye contact in virtual reality now,” Zuckerberg said as part of the hedset feature list. “It will allow you to follow your face so that your avatar is no longer just a quiet thing, but, if you smile or frown, or whatever your facial expression is, it will be displayed in real time on your avatar.” Says Zuckerberg.

This is in line with what we know about Project Cambria, which should have a high-resolution display, internal eye tracking sensors and passthrough sensors that will enable the achievement of advanced refined reality and thus better social experiences and a better sense of presence thanks to eye and face monitoring. Due to these features, the price of this device will be significantly higher than $ 800, about 6045 kn.
